Celebrating Breast Cancer Awareness Month

This year more than ever the color of pink ribbons are visible from supporters across the country in various events, from walk-a-thons to NFL and other major sporting events.  Millions stand in support to fight for a cure and bring upon universal awareness to breast cancer.  Every voice, every hug and every story of women who have inspired us through their trials and tribulations are blessings of hope that we can and will overcome this deadly disease.

Ada Luz Vasquez was my inspirational angel.  Ada was diagnosed with breast cancer in July 2003 and succumbed to her illness on August 6, 2004, two weeks shy of her 50th birthday.  Throughout her fight she never showed fear nor complained of unfairness. She embraced her Christian belief and took a proactive approach to share and encourage all the women in her circle. Her mantra was “love yourself and your neighbor with the utmost unconditional love that will instill hope and willingness for change to a better future”.

During her last hours, Ada passed on to me a remarkable gift ; the gift of fortitude.  She wanted me to continue the fight of bringing awareness to all women to take a proactive approach in knowing, embracing and caring for their body, spirit and mind.  It all start with prevention, take one step everyday to be a happier healthier you!  Walk more, eat healthier, get your yearly physical exams, get to know your body, start a woman’s support group, reach out to someone who is in need of emotional support, love your family and neighbors and most importantly forgive those who have caused you harm.

YOU ARE WORTH IT!
